National Parks
In September 1991
the Parliament of Montenegro in its constitution declared
itself an "Ecological State". The goal was to
integrate man and nature. But there is a long way to go as the
landscape demonstrates. Not always is the wild beauty
respected. Today there are four national parks in Montenegro:
Biogradska Gora, Durmitor, Lovcen and Lake Skadar. They cover
seven percent of the country's surface.
